Sonya Zarkhin is currently an intern physician at Larkin Community Hospital. She obtained her medical degree from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. Sonya earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree at the University of Michigan. While in Ann Arbor, Sonya was accepted to the Women in Science and Engineering program (WISE) where she later served as mentor for aspiring medical students. Sonya is proud to be part of the inaugural class of the first osteopathic medical school in the state of Indiana. During her time at Marian University, she helped found the local American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) chapter and served as its President for two years. Sonya completed a summer research internship at Eli Lilly & Company, where she studied molecular structures and their likelihood of contributing to drug induced liver injury. Sonya is passionate about dermatology and is looking forward to continuing her education in this field as well as educating others. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking and hiking.
